Scannappeal celebrates completion of the All Heart Appeal

A celebration has been held to mark the end of a two year campaign by Scannappeal to purchase two heart scanners for use at hospitals in Buckinghamshire.

The All Heart appeal, run by Scannappeal, raised £185,000 to provide two of the latest generation 3D heart scanners to diagnose and evaluate heart disease.

An evening reception was held at Wycombe hospital on Thursday 21st November 2019 where members of the community that had kindly donated to the appeal were invited to enjoy the celebrations.

Dr Firoozan, Consultant Cardiologist, and Keith Wilson unveiled the donation plaque which highlights the names of people who have donated towards the appeal. The plaques will be on display in the outpatients Department at both Wycombe and Amersham hospitals.

Dr Firoozan demonstrated the equipment they had helped purchase which showed the detailed imagery the scanners provide and how important these are in assisting the consultants to decide on the correct treatment path.

Keith Wilson, Trustee of Scannappeal, said: ‘Our supporters always go the extra mile and we’ve seen everything from, golf days, skydiving, bike riding, school fundraising and even giving in memory of loved ones. To each and every one of you that has kindly donated to the appeal, a huge thank you for supporting the appeal to ensure that our local hospitals have the latest and best scanning equipment in the cardiology department.

Thank you also to all of our wonderful volunteers who give their time, energy and skills; to the cardiology team for raising awareness of the appeal with their patients and fundraising themselves, in fact to everyone involved in supporting Scannappeal, thank you, we are truly grateful.‘

Dr Firoozan went on to say: ‘The cardiology department have been very fortunate to have benefited from several appeals over the years run by Scannappeal and I can honestly say that you all have made a significant impact on the service the department can offer to patients.

Patients across Buckinghamshire are now being treated with advance technology that is only available at a few hospitals across the country.‘
