Action4Youth has increased delivery of its National Citizen Service (NCS) programme to reach even more young people across Buckinghamshire.

Action4Youth is a youth charity for children and young people in Buckinghamshire, Milton Keynes and the surrounding counties.

The charity has announced it has expanded its National Citizen Service (NCS) programme to offer even more young people the opportunity to take part in this life-changing experience.

The Action4Youth NCS programme is dsigned for young people aged 16 to 17 and runs every summer and autumn, during the school holidays. The experience is all about emboldening young people, by giving them the buzz of being an adult (without all the responsibilities).

On NCS, participants live away from home and get a taste of independence. They mix with a new crowd of people and take on exciting challenges together, developing skills that will set them up for life after school. Participants get a chance to use their new found skills by tackling a passion project of their choosing.

Action4Youth’s NCS programme is dedicated to providing a platform for young people where they can speak up and get their voice heard and tackle real world issues close to home.

Emily Davis, Director of Programmes at Action4Youth explains: ‘We are thrilled that we will now be delivering the NCS programme across the whole of Buckinghamshire.

In summer 2019 Action4Youth had the highest net promoter score (customer satisfaction score) nationally and we are excited that we can offer such an amazing experience to many more young people across Bucks in Summer and Autumn 2020.

Members of the charity’s Youth Board, who have previously taken part in Action4Youth’s NCS said:

  • Since NCS I have been more open to trying new things.
  • The skills sessions on week two improved my public speaking and presentation skills, as well as my confidence.
  • NCS has inspired me to want to help people more and since completing the programme I have continued doing charity work.
  • I left NCS feeling like I had seriously grown as a person.
  • I met some of my closest friends on NCS.
