Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust has launched an appeal to raise £10,000 to support staff wellbeing during the COVID-19 emergency.

During the current COVID-19 pandemic many of the staff across Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust (BHT) are working in unfamiliar surroundings, longer shifts, extra days and are having to spend a lot of time away from home and their families to ensure care for the most vulnerable patients.

The Trust charity has launched the BHT COVID-19 Staff Wellbeing Appeal with the aim of raising £10,000. The money will be used to provide extra support for all the staff at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust during these challenging times at Stoke Mandeville, Wycombe, Amersham and Buckingham hospitals, as well as supporting those staff who are looking after people in their own homes.

It is hoped the money raised will allow the Trust to provide wellbeing packs for colleagues who are unable to go home or who are working long shifts and enable the provision of comfortable areas for staff to sleep or take breaks in during the pandemic.

Trust chief executive Neil Macdonald said: ‘I am both humbled and overwhelmed by the generosity shown to BHT staff from the local community. People have been asking how they can help so we’ve set up the fund on JustGiving to enable us to coordinate donations. Thank you for continuing to support our staff during this difficult time.

By staying at home you are saving lives, stopping the spread of coronavirus and enabling the NHS to continue to look after those who need it most.
