Car caught fire following collision with a lorry on the M40

A car caught fire following a collision with a lorry on the M40 during the morning of Thursday 13th August 2020.

At 11.14am firefighters were called to the incident on the Northbound carriageway of the M40 between Junction 2 (Beaconsfield) and Junction 3 (Loudwater). One fire appliance with crew attended from Beaconsfield fire station, one from Gerrards Cross fire station as well as one from Amersham fire station. An officer also attended.

Following the collision with a lorry the car caught fire. A set of breathing apparatus and hose reel were used by the firefighters during the operation to extinguish the fire.

Two men escaped from the vehicles in which they had been travelling before the firefighters arrived. One man was uninjured however the second man was given immediate emergency care by the firefighters and then passed into the care of South Central Ambulance Service.
