Local charity, Scannappeal, is launching a new Santa Sunday event to kick start the festive season.

The charity is encouraging the local community to get involved in support of our local NHS hospitals through the Santa Sunday event which will take place on Sunday 13th December 2020.

The great thing about the Santa Sunday event is that you set the rules by choose the challenge you wish to undertake such as a 5k ramble, 10k jog, 20k bike ride. You can choose the location such as a local park, treadmill at the gym or the comfort of your own home. You choose the time,  an early morning stroll, lunchtime challenge or afternoon meander!

All Scannappeal is asking is that you dress up in your favourite festive outfit, pull on your Santa hat (that is sent to you once you have registered) and look to encourage your friends, family and colleagues to get involved too, you could even organise a Santa relay.

There is no obligation to fundraise but if you do and raise over £50 in sponsorship you will receive a special Scannappeal Santa medal.

Lisa Trivett, Director of Scannappeal said: ‘All of our normal events have been cancelled this Christmas and we are very sad to not be able to connect with our supporters in our normal way.

We wanted to find a way to engage with the wider community to encourage some festive fun but ensuring it can be done safely.

I am really looking forward to getting my family involved, and with some extra festive fuel onboard, we will be taking on a 5k route around the village I live in.

Further information on how to get involved in the fun or to register for the event can be found at www.scannappeal/events/scannappeal-santa-sunday. Entry fees are £9 per adult and £5 per child or register before Saturday 31st October 2020 to take part as a family of four for £25.
