The High Wycombe Croquet Club is staging a 24-hour Midsummer croquet marathon starting at noon on Saturday 19th June 2021.

Different groups of players have committed to keep the games going until noon the following day. Each person will play twice, once at a comfortable time and once at a ‘not so comfortable’ time – i.e. in the dark. People are also being encouraged to enter into the spirit of midsummer madness by what they wear.

Club Chairman, Richard Peperell said: ‘How we illuminate the hoops in the hours of darkness will be fun. And whoever get the black ball to play will have an extra special challenge at 2.00am!

We are asking each player to seek sponsorship to raise funds. Half the money will go to club funds, which lost out a bit during last year. The other half is being donated to a Buckinghamshire charity for homeless people, the Wycombe Homeless Connection. In this way, we hope to raise awareness of that charity’s great work, celebrate a great sport that is accessible to all, and have some fun.

The Midsummer Marathon takes place at High Wycombe Croquet Club based at Hazlemere Recreation Ground from 12.00pm on Saturday 19th June 2021 to 12.00pm on Sunday 20th June 2021.

Anyone wishing to donate can do so on the Just Giving website at https://www.justgiving/crowdfunding/hwcc24hour.
