The Liberal Democrat candidate, Sarah Green, won the seat by 8,028 votes. Since its creation in 1974 the seat had previously only been held by a Conservative candidate.
The by-election was caused by the death of former Welsh Secretary Dame Cheryl Gillan in April 2021.
The turnout was 37,954 (52%).
