Screening scheme agreed for HS2 vent shaft at Little Missenden

| March 30, 2022

Buckinghamshire Council has granted approval for the site restoration scheme at the Little Missenden HS2 Vent Shaft.

It was submitted by HS2 Limited under Schedule 17 of the High Speed Rail (London – West Midlands), Act 2017.

The original application submitted by HS2 Limited in August 2021 was rejected by both Buckinghamshire Council and local residents who thought it did not sufficiently screen the new HS2 vent shaft from the road and local properties.

Councillor Peter Martin, Buckinghamshire Council Deputy Cabinet Member for HS2 and local Ward Member for Great Missenden. said: ‘This is a significant improvement on the initial scheme HS2 Limited first submitted.

We pushed hard for a better scheme, with more and bigger trees of the type found in the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), and HS2 Limited responded to the challenge.

We are pleased that we can now move forward and the planting can start as soon as possible after the completion of the vent shaft construction works.
