Residents from a care home in High Wycombe have starred in a charity music single in celebration of the Platinum Jubilee.

Residents from Shelburne Lodge, a Barchester care home in High Wycombe, have joined forces with the Air Raid Café and local band, The 1945, fronted by vintage singer Sally Phillips, to create a charity music single in celebration of the Platinum Jubilee.

The chosen song for the charity single is ‘Thank You (Your Majesty)’ to the tune of Go West by the Village People / Pet Shop Boys. Proceeds will be going to Rennie Grove, hospice at home nurses (https://renniegrove.org/).

The charity single is the brainchild of Chris Miller, from The Air Raid Café located in the Chilterns Centre, High Wycombe. The café is set up like an air raid shelter and a lounge from war time complete with gas masks! The Shelburne Lodge residents are regulars there and good friends with Chris and his team. Chris came up with the idea of creating a charity single and the residents jumped at the chance to be involved.

Pictured (above) are the residents celebrating the launch of the single and watching the video for the first time at a launch party which took place at Shelburne Lodge on Thursday 19th May 2022. The single will go on sale from Friday 20th May 2022 on Amazon Music.

Marina Glen, General Manager at Shelburne Lodge, said: ‘Chris is such a good friend of the home, we love going to his wonderful café and so when he asked us if we’d like to take part in his charity project, of course we said yes!

The residents loved taking part and singing along with Sally, we hope to raise lots of funds for Rennie Grove.

Kathleen Dobbs, a resident from Shelburne Lodge, said: ‘We’re so delighted to be able to help Chris and raise funds for Rennie Grove, the nurses there are wonderful, and we all thoroughly enjoyed making the video – it was such good fun. I really hope we get to do another single soon!

Shelburne Lodge is run by Barchester Healthcare, one of the UK’s largest care providers, which is committed to delivering high quality care across its care homes and hospitals. Shelburne Lodge provides nursing care, residential care, respite care.
