Police recover weapons following violent incidents in High Wycombe

In early May 2022, a number of assaults involving weapons took place in the Castlefield and central High Wycombe areas.

Thames Valley Police are investigating the assaults as being linked. As part of the police investigations into the offences, a number of arrests and charges have been made. Police have also recovered and seized a number of weapons and ammunition.

Residents in the affected areas will have seen more police officers patrolling the areas in which these incidents took place as well as carrying out a number of warrants as part of the police investigations.

Detective Inspector Peter Wall, based at High Wycombe police station, said: ‘The nature of these incidents will naturally cause concern amongst those living locally.

I hope that I can provide the reassurance that a full and thorough investigation is well under way and has already led to some key interventions and crime prevention work. We believe that those involved were known to each other and the threat to the wider community was and remains low.

I would like to thank local residents and businesses for their support and understanding over these weeks. We all have a better chance of ending serious violence such as this when we work together rather than in isolation and the local communities of High Wycombe have certainly helped to demonstrate this.

Local officers will continue their patrols of these neighbourhoods and my team of specialist investigators will continue their work into identifying those responsible for these incidents and gathering the evidence to present to court at a later date.
