High Wycombe Tuneless Choir Celebrates 1st Birthday in New Year 2023
The High Wycombe Tuneless Choir are inviting people to make it their New Year’s resolution to sing, whatever their ability.
The choir is a choir for the ‘less vocally confident’ and one of many Tuneless Choirs across the country which formed to promote singing for fun and wellbeing.
Singing in a choir has been shown to have a positive effect on people’s mental health and wellbeing. It can reduce anxiety and increase life satisfaction.
Rebecca Cobb, choir leader and manager, said: ‘Choir members tell me singing as part of the choir takes their minds off the day’s troubles and boosts their mood, but mostly that they do it simply because it’s social and fun.
We provide a friendly and relaxed environment to allow people to ‘sing like no one is listening’, which is the Tuneless motto. It has been lovely to see everyone grow in confidence.
We are delighted to be celebrating our 1st birthday on Tuesday 3rd January 2022 and would like to offer newcomers a free trial in the month of January. We will be having coffee and cake to celebrate.’
New Year’s resolutions are often a challenge, so this New Year why not resolve to sing your heart out? The session on Tuesday 3rd January 2023 will be a ‘Back to School’ theme and include songs such as ABC by the Jackson 5 and Baggy Trousers by Madness.
The choir meets at St James’ Church Hall, Downley, High Wycombe on the first and third Tuesday of each month. Doors open at 7.30pm for registration and singing is from 7.45pm to 9.00pm.
The free trial is available on either session in January 2023 (3rd or 17th January). Further information is available by contacting Rebecca on 07527 616857 or by e-mail at [email protected] with any questions. To join the choir as a member it costs £10 including registration. It’s then £8 a session if you ‘pay as you go’ and there are termly discounted deals available.
