Local charity receives warm welcome from the Hazlemere community

Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity has officially opened the doors to its brand new shop in Hazlemere.

Shop manager, Jilly Davis, opened the doors at 11.00am on Friday 28th April 2023 to a queue of customers who were keen to see the range of high-quality fashions, homeware and entertainment promised by the charity.

The tills busily rang throughout the day as customers snapped up bargains donated by the charity’s supporters.

Jilly Davis, the new shop’s Manager, said: ‘I am completely overwhelmed by the amazing response from customers on our opening day, we have received such high-quality donations which have made the shop look spectacular.

We have an amazing team of volunteers who have helped to make this possible and a wonderful local community who have welcomed us to the parade. We look forward to meeting many more customers over the coming days and weeks.‘

All the profits from the new Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity shop, located at 36 Park Parade, will go directly to the charity, which is dedicated to delivering the best hospice care for everyone who needs it across Buckinghamshire and its borders, wherever and whenever they need it.

The charity is also offering dedicated bereavement services from a room within the shop. Ann Kenny, Bereavement Lead for Florence Nightingale Hospice, said: ‘We are delighted to be opening a dedicated, safe space where our trained listeners can meet, one to one, with bereaved people. It is a free, confidential, and compassionate service, provided for as long as needed. We also hope to start a drop in café in the very near future from the Hazlemere shop.‘

The charity is asking for anyone clearing out their cupboards and wardrobes to consider donating to the shop, which has parking outside for easy drop offs. They are also seeking volunteers to join their team and help make the shop a success.
