UPDATED: 300 tonnes of hay caught fire in Chalfont St. Peter – 40 firefighters in attendance

At 6.34pm on Tuesday 8th July 2014 Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue were alerted to a fire in a concrete barn containing 300 tonnes of stacked hay off Chesham Lane, Chalfont St. Peter.

Forty firefighters and officers attended the incident.

Fire appliances were provided by the following fire stations, Gerrards Cross (1), Amersham (2), Beaconsfield (1), Great Missenden (1), Princes Risborough (1), Marlow (1), Rickmansworth (1). Aylesbury fire station provided a Command and Control Unit.

Firefighters used two jets and a water tanker. By 8.33pm the fire had been brought under control and no further resources were required. At 10.30pm the incident was scaled down to two appliances.
