Driver airlifted to hospital with serious injuries following M40 accident
At 6.50am on Friday 22nd August 2014 a white Mercedes Sprinter van and a Volvo tipper truck were involved in a serious injury road traffic collision on the Northbound carriageway of the M40 between Junction 3 (Loudwater) and Junction 4 (High Wycombe).
The driver of the Mercedes Sprinter van was airlifted to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford with serious injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening.
Two lanes of the motorway were closed in the Northbound direction and severe congestion built up in the area with traffic queuing back to Junction 1a.
Traffic is was affected for several hours and motorists were advised to avoid the affected area.
Thames Valley Police are appealing for witnesses the collision or for anyone who saw the vehicles travelling prior to the incident. If anyone can help with information they are requested to call the 24-hour Thames Valley Police enquiry centre on 101 quoting URN 187 of 22nd August 2014.
