Last Saturday, 11th October 2014, Wycombe Wanderers went top of League Two, it was a moment that filled me with pride.
Those who follow the Blues will know of the desperate scramble at the end of last season to avoid relegation and a possible exit from the football league, some teams would have given up in that position but not Wycombe.
The gallant players lead by Gareth Ainsworth bounced back and, firing on all cylinders, have done the fans and people of Wycombe proud. For example have you see the amazing goal Sam Wood scored against Morecambe last Saturday?
At the moment Wycombe are the team to beat in League Two. Their matching wining performances are decisive and clear. The team is playing like they mean to win and the points are rolling in.
The people of Wycombe should be proud of their table-topping football team, the players should be congratulated and the manager commended for getting the team to the position it is in today.
Last week saw the announcement that Wasps would be moving on from Adams Park. Wycombe may have lost the spectacle of Premiership Rugby but we still have League winning football being played in our town.
Maybe some of the local supporters who went to the rugby matches will realise just what’s going in at the end of Hillbottom Road on a Saturday afternoon and turn up to see the Chairboys add to their tally of victories?
Wycombe has every reason to be proud of the Blues, they are the pride of High Wycombe. The team are doing their bit on the field we just need the supporters to turn up and do their bit in the stands.
