Commercial building caught fire in Oxford Street, High Wycombe

At 6.37pm on the evening of Sunday 23rd November 2014 firefighters were called to a fire in a commercial property in Oxford Street, High Wycombe.

Before the firefighters arrived a pall of smoke could be seen rising from the Oxford Street area and moving in a southerly direction towards the town centre.

Three fire appliances with crews were despatched to the incident from High Wycombe fire station together with one fire appliance and crew from Beaconsfield fire station. Two officers also attended the incident.

At one point nearly twenty fire fighters were at the scene.

During the operation to extinguish the fire two jets, one hose reel, four sets of breathing apparatus and a thermal imaging camera were used by the firefighters.

Two helium cylinders were safely removed from the property by firefighters.

By 8.00pm the fire was out with just the final damping down left to complete. The firefighters left at around 8.40pm.

Initial, unconfirmed reports, suggest the fire was in a property used as a takeaway close to the former Pure nightclub.
