WW1 Not ‘all over by Christmas’ talk at Wycombe Museum
On Wednesday 3rd December 2014 Wycombe Museum is to hold a special talk as part of their events to mark the Centenary of the outbreak of World War 1.
The evening starts at 6.00pm with an hour long event to mark the opening of the Wycombe in World War 1 exhibition, refreshments will be served in the museums 1920’s kitchen.
Between 7.00pm and 8.00pm there will be a talk entitled Not ‘all Over by Christmas’ with Curator Catherine Grigg. Despite the expectations of many, the war was certainly not all over by Christmas 1914. In fact a total of four Christmases would be celebrated during World War 1. The talk will help to explain why not even the trenches, food shortages or the separation of families could destroy the urge to celebrate Christmas and just why Christmas was so significant at this time.
Cost of entry is £5, with booking in advance as places are limited. WLC discount applies.
