A 44 year old man from Windrush Drive, High Wycombe has been jailed for four months for burglary in High Wycombe less than 24 hours after the crime took place.

Just after 12.00am on Tuesday 13th January 2015 (13/1) a person was outside the Ruby Moon shop in Castle Street and was seen pulling on the security shutters before kicking and smashing the glass of the front door.

Entry was gained to the shop and cash, a laptop and other items were stolen.

Following a report to police, the man was arrested in Eastern Street shortly after the incident and was found to be in possession of the cash and stock from the shop.

He was charged with burglary the same day and was remanded to appear at Wycombe Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 14th January 2015. He pleaded guilty to the offence and was sentenced to 16 weeks’ imprisonment.

Speaking following the sentencing, investigating officer PC David Cannon, from High Wycombe Local CID, said: ‘The report to police while the burglary was in process quickly led officers to the offender who was arrested.

[The man] was charged and brought to justice in less than 24 hours after committing the burglary. This conviction demonstrates that Thames Valley Police takes all reports of burglary seriously and makes every effort to detect and detain offenders.
