A landslip which occurred near the Harbury Tunnel in Warwickshire at approximately 3.00pm on Saturday 31st January 2015 is preventing Chilterns Railways trains running between Banbury and Leamington Spa.
A rail replacement bus service has been put into operation in the affected area.
Chiltern Railways trains are running from London Marylebone to Banbury and from Leamington Spa to Birmingham Moor Street and Snow Hill.
The route between Leamington Spa and Banbury is expected to remain closed all day on Sunday 1st February 2015, there is a reasonable possibility that the route will still be blocked on Monday 2nd February 2015.
Chiltern Railways are advising passengers travelling between London and the West Midlands to use Virgin West Coast and London Midland services between London Euston and Birmingham New Street. Chiltern Railways tickets will be valid on this route.
In order to re-open the railway line approximately 350,000 tonnes of material will need to be removed by engineers. Disruption to rail services may last until Friday 6th February 2015.
Further information, including an emergency timetable that has been put into operation on the route due to the landslip, can be found on the Chiltern Railways website.
