Wycombe Wanderers 0-0 Portsmouth
Despite playing in front of a crowd of nearly 6,000 Wycombe Wanderers could only manage a goalless draw against Portsmouth on Saturday 31st January 2015.
The third drawn match in a row for the Chairboys also saw them slip from first to third place in League Two. The game itself was one of missed chances leaving both sides with thoughts of what may have been.
Portsmouth started the better side and had the best of the first half of the game, however just before half time Wycombe nearly went ahead but Jacobson’s shot hit the crossbar.
In the second half Wycombe put up a valiant effort to find the back of the Portsmouth net but failed to make the breakthrough they deserved.
Both sides had seven shots on goal however only one of Wycombe’s attempts was on target compared to two of Portsmouth’s. These appallingly low figures show the frustration that both teams encountered and sum up the match.
There were twenty two fouls, twelve by Wycombe players and ten by Portsmouth together with five bookings, all of which served to interrupt the flow of the game and dampen any goal scoring chances which may have arisen.
After today’s game Wycombe Wanderers now find themselves third in League Two on fifty three points, one point behind Shrewsbury Town and Burton Albion.
The attendance at Adams Park was 5,829 which includes 1,550 Portsmouth supporters.
