Local Councils encourage neighbourhoods to hold litter picks on national clear-up day

| March 5, 2015

Saturday 21st March 2015 is national clear-up day, an initiative which is being promoted by the government and Keep Britain Tidy.

The aim is to encourage local initiatives and help keep communities litter-free.

Chiltern and Wycombe District Councils have been encouraging and supporting neighbourhoods to hold litter-pick days for a number of years, and both local authorities are right behind this event, not just for the day, but throughout the year.

The Councils’ joint waste team will provide long-handled litter picks and plastic bags for groups keen to give their neighbourhoods a good tidy up. They will also arrange to pick up the filled bags afterwards.

Groups thinking of holding a litter pick day, either on Saturday 21st March 2015, or at any other time, are encouraged to call Chiltern and Wycombe Joint Waste Team on 01494 586 550 or by email at [email protected] for Chiltern District Council or Wycombe [email protected] for Wycombe District Council.

More information about the national clear-up day can be found at  www.thebigtidyup.org. You can also follow #ClearUpDay on social media or on Facebook at www.facebook.com/ClearUpDay.
