Luton Town 2-3 Wycombe Wanderers

Wycombe Wanderers claimed an emphatic victory in their clash against Luton Town on the evening of Tuesday 24th March 2015.

The match marked Wycombe’s 1,000th game in the Football League.

The Chairboys took control of the game in the third minute when a shot by Sam Saunders deflected in off a Luton defender. However just four minutes later Elliot Lee equalised for Luton.

In the twenty eighth minute Wycombe went 2-1 up when Paul Hayes scored from the penalty spot, Alfie Mawson scored Wycombe’s third goal nine minutes later.

From then on Wycombe were in control however Luton fought back with Elliot Lee scoring a second goal for Luton in the thirty eighth minute.

The second half was just as exciting but the Blues held onto their lead and went away with a well deserved win to leave them still in third position in League Two on seventy one points from thirty eight games. Shrewsbury are in second place, also on seventy on points, however they have a better goal difference.

Both sides made fifteen shots on goal however seven of Wycombe’s were on target compared to just four of Luton’s attempts. Both sides committed thirteen fouls apiece. Wycombe had more ball possession with 52% to Luton’s 48%.

The attendance at Kenilworth Road was 8,379 (including 555 supporters from Wycombe Wanderers).
