20 people escape safely after coach catches fire on M40

A coach caught fire on fire on the Northbound carriageway of the M40 between Junctions 1 (Denham) and Junction 1a (M25 interchange) during the evening of Saturday 9th May 2015.

Firefighters were called at 7.41pm, one fire appliance with crew attended from Gerrards Cross fire station as well as two from Hillingdon fire station.

Two hose reels and two sets of breathing apparatus were used during the operation to extinguish the fire.

All twenty people on board the coach got off safely.

The coach was 30% damaged by fire and 50% damaged by heat and smoke.
