Murder investigation launched after body of woman is found in lay-by on A413 at Gerrards Cross

At 8.36am on Tuesday 23rd June 2015 Thames Valley Police were called to a lay-by on the A413 Amersham Road at Gerrards Cross after a passing motorist reported finding a body of a woman in the lay-by.

The body has yet to be identified and the next of kin have not been informed. The cause of death is as yet unknown and a Home Office post mortem examination is due to take place tomorrow, Wednesday 24th June 2015.

Police officers are treating the death of the woman as murder and have arrested a 50 year old man from Hayes in Middlesex on suspicion of murder.

Detectives from the Major Crime Unit are continuing to follow a number of enquiries to establish the circumstances of the woman’s death.

Supt Yvette Hitch, LPA Commander for Chiltern and South Bucks, said: ‘Officers are at the scene working to establish the circumstances surrounding the death of woman. We are in the very early stages of our investigation and a scene watch is in place.

I would like to speak to anyone who has any information about this incident or who may have seen anything out of the ordinary in the area – please call 101 as soon as possible.

Officers from the local Neighbourhood Team are making house to house enquiries and patrolling locally to provide reassurance. If anyone has any concerns, please feel free to approach an officer.
