Van destroyed by fire on M40

The Northbound carriageways of the M40 were closed during the afternoon of Wednesday 26th August 2015 after a van caught fire.

The incident occurred between Junctions 3 (Loudwater) and Junction 4 (Handy Cross).

Firefighters were called at 3.23pm. One fire appliance with crew attended from High Wycombe fire station as well as one from Gerrards Cross fire station.

Two hose reels and two sets of breathing apparatus were used during the operation to extinguish the fire.

Queues of traffic built up back to Junction 2 (Beaconsfield) until the motorway was finally re-opened.

The van was destroyed in the fire.
