Sport England awards nearly £135k to help get women and girls in the Aylesbury Vale active
Nearly £135,000 has been awarded by Sport England in a bid to get women and girls in the Aylesbury Vale active.
To be delivered over three years by Aylesbury Vale District Council in partnership with local organisations, the ‘Active Vale’ programme is one of over 40 projects to secure funding from Sport England’s Community Sport Activation fund.
The fund empowers local communities to reach out to people who for one reason or another don’t exercise with the hope of encouraging people to give sport a go.
Active Vale aims to encourage women and girls between the ages of 14 and 40 to increase their sport and physical levels within a fun and friendly environment.
Those taking part in the programme will be able to get involved in a range of activities including swimming, running, Nordic walking, gym classes and team sports, all of which will be delivered at a time, place and cost to suit local needs.
The scheme is part of the drive in Buckinghamshire to deliver a participation legacy for sport after the success of the London Olympic and Paralympic Games.
