Remembrance Poppy sales helped by AVDC Chairman

| November 3, 2015

Councillor Mrs Jenny Bloom, Chairman of Aylesbury Vale District Council, will be showing her support for the 2015 poppy appeal by selling poppies and collecting donations.

On Thursday 5th November, from around 1.30 pm, Cllr Bloom will be with the Royal British Legion in Aylesbury Town Centre, starting outside New Look in Friars Square.

Cllr Mrs Bloom said: ‘I would encourage local people to support this national appeal and show their support for our serving armed forces and veterans by buying a poppy and wearing it with pride.

Our armed forces are amongst the best in the world, and Remembrance Day gives us the opportunity to reflect on the past and show our appreciation for their dedication and sacrifices they continue to make in the cause for world peace.

The money raised running up to Remembrance Day will be used to support a wide variety of Royal British Legion projects and provide support for former and current service personnel, from help with retraining and housing, to mobility aids and recovery centres.

On Sunday 8th November 2015 Cllr Bloom will be leading the Remembrance Sunday service in the Aylesbury’s Market Square. The service starts at 10.45am preceded by a parade of local military groups marching into the square from 10.30am. Members of the public are welcome to attend.
