Police launch operation deal with domestic related violence over Christmas and New Year

A police operation was launched on Friday 18th December 2015 in Chiltern and South Bucks to deal with incidents of domestic related violence over Christmas and New Year.

The operation, named Operation Gift, is aimed at specifically dealing with any alcohol related domestic violence issues. Dedicated evening police patrols will provide early engagement with licensees and revellers and will respond to domestic related violence against the person incidents.

Insp Pete Foy, of Amersham police station, said: ‘We have been running this type of operation over the festive period for the past three years and we have seen a reduction in domestic assaults being reported across the Chiltern and South Bucks local police area.

In 2014, 16 incidents of domestic assault were reported to police, compared to 25 in 2013 and 29 in 2012.
