Lorry driver robbed on the A412 Denham Road by masked men carrying a hammer

| May 6, 2016

On the night of Thursday 5th May 2016 a lorry driver was robbed and assaulted with a hammer in South Bucks by masked men.

Shortly before midnight a 56 year old driver was asleep in his Volvo articulated goods lorry which was parked in a lay-by along the A412 Denham Road. Four offenders, wearing gloves and balaclavas broke into his vehicle after smashing a window.

One of the offenders assaulted the driver using a hammer. The lorry drivers wallet and mobile phone were then stolen. The driver was taken to Hillingdon Hospital where he was assessed for his injuries and has since been discharged.

PC Iain Torbet, officer in the case from Taplow Local CID, said: ‘I am appealing for anyone who may have seen the lorry parked in the location described prior to the incident. More importantly, I would like to hear from anyone who saw four males acting suspiciously or entering the lorry.

I would like to reassure local residents that an incident of this nature is extremely rare and that a thorough investigation is on-going to catch those responsible.

Thankfully, the victim did not suffer serious injuries given the nature of the incident.

Thames Valley Police are appealing for anyone with information about the robbery to contact PC Tobert via 101. Alternatively, those who do not wish to speak to police or leave their name should call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
