Man, 26, sentenced to a year’s imprisonment for sex and drug offences in High Wycombe

A 26 year old man has been sentenced to a year’s imprisonment for two counts of sexual assault and one count of possession of cannabis.

On Friday 29th July 2016 Jama Kassim, 26, of Crest Road, Booker, High Wycombe was sentenced at Aylesbury Crown Court to a year’s imprisonment for two counts of sexual assault and one count of possession of cannabis.

The first offence occurred at 3.00pm on Sunday 29th May 2016. The female victim was walking towards Tom Burts Hill when Mr Kassim approached her, he tried to talk to her and then touched her inappropriately. She shouted for a friend and Kassim ran off.

The second offence took place at 7.00pm on Tuesday 31st May 2016 when a female was walking along Barracks Road. Mr Kassim tried to engage in conversation with the victim and also touched her inappropriately before she managed to get away.

Mr Kassim was arrested on Friday 3rd June 2016 and was charged on Saturday 4th June 2016. On Friday 29th July 2016, at Aylesbury Crown Court, he was given a six month sentence for each of the sexual assaults, to be served consecutively, and was also given a day’s imprisonment for possession of cannabis.

Investigating officer, PC Richard Palmer based at High Wycombe police station, said: ‘I am delighted that the offender has been caught and convicted of these serious offences. This has been very distressing to the victims and I commend their bravery for coming forward and assisting with the investigation.

Kassim was caught through a joint operation with neighbourhood and response officers.

Kassim was a danger to females and acted on predatory instinct and I am relieved he is safely behind bars. He has also been placed on the sex offenders register for ten years.
