Lightning strike set house on fire at Chalfont St Giles

A house at The Brow, Chalfont St Giles caught fire after being struck by lightning during the early hours of Friday 16th September 2016.

Firefighters were called at 3.51am. One fire appliance with crew attended from Gerrards Cross fire station, one from High Wycombe fire station, one from Rickmansworth fire station , one from Slough fire station and one from Langley fire station attended the scene. The Incident Command Unit from Aylesbury and an officer also attended.

Two jets, a hose reel, four sets of breathing apparatus and a turntable ladder were used by the firefighters during the operation to extinguish the fire.

The roof of the property was severely damaged by fire and the first floor was damaged by water and debris.
