Carlisle United 1-0 Wycombe Wanderers
Wycombe Wanderers travelled to Carlisle United on Saturday 24th September 2016.
With Carlisle unbeaten in eight league games before today’s match and Wycombe in need of a win the match was going to be one of interest.
The first half saw both sides create chances only for them to come to nothing, at half time the match was still goalless.
It was in the fifty seventh minute that Carlisle took the lead with what turned out to be the only goal of the game when a right footed shot from Shaun Miller from the centre of the box found the bottom right corner of the Wycombe net.
The Blues kept pressing but unfortunately despite many close calls their efforts failed to produce an equalising goal.
It was a very even match, the stats reflect this with 50% possession for each team. Carlisle managed seventeen shots at goal of which seven were on target, Wycombe achieved fourteen shots on goal of which just two were on target. The match saw eighteen fouls, seven by Carlisle players and eleven by Wycombe.
After today’s defeat Wycombe are now twenty first in League Two with eight points from nine games.
The attendance at Brunton Park was 4,354 (116 from Wycombe).
