Proposal to add 366 extra spaces to Amersham multi-storey car park

| October 29, 2016

On Friday 4th November 2016 plans will be submitted to Chiltern District Council to extend Amersham multi-storey car park in King George V Road, Amersham on the Hill, HP6 5AP.

The existing 680 space car park will be increased by an additional 366 spaces on five levels, including a lift and disabled provision at ground level.

In June 2016 a capacity survey carried out which showed the existing car park was at full capacity three days a week with demand growing, mainly from commuters travelling into London. The proposed extension is expected to meet that increasing demand until 2036.

If approved, it is also anticipated that the extension will increase long-stay parking use at the multi-storey car park. This is expected to free up more short-stay spaces in the Sycamore Road facility closer to the town centre leading to a potential boost for local businesses.

Designs for the proposed extension have been produced by Balfour Beatty. The designs are being exhibited in the reception area of Chiltern District Council offices in King George V House, King George Road, Amersham HP6 5AW from Friday 28th October (3.00pm to 7.00pm) and then during office hours  throughout the planning process, which is likely to last until February 2017.

People wishing to comment on the proposals are asked to submit their comments via the Chiltern District Council planning applications web page after plans are submitted on Friday 4th November 2016 at http://www.chiltern.gov.uk/viewplanningapplications. Before Friday 4th November 2016 people can complete feedback forms available at Chiltern District Council reception desk.

During any building works the multi-storey car park will remain operational. Construction is expected to start in May 2017 and all efforts will be made to minimise inconvenience to the public while construction is under way.
