On Saturday 18th March 2017 Wycombe Wanderers travelled to Hartlepool United for a League Two match.
Wycombe made a brisk start to the game with their first shot on the Hartlepool goal in the seventh minute but alas, Dayle Southwell’s header missed to the left.
In the twenty fourth minute Wycombe made the breakthrough they had been looking for when a shot by Adebayo Akinfenwa found the bottom left corner of the Hartlepool goal.
Both sides had chances during the first half, the most spectacular of which was a shot from thirty five yards by Sam Saunders in the forty-fifth minute, the shot was heading towards the centre of the Hartlepool goal however it was saved.
At half time Wycombe were leading but they came out in the second half in a determined frame of mind making several attempts on the Hartlepool goal all of which failed to covert into goals.
In the final moments of the match, the ninetieth minute, Paris Cowan-Hall scored a second goal for Wycombe however two minutes later he was sent off following an altercation with Scott Harrison.
The match stats show that Wycombe managed 48% possession and of their fourteen shots on goal seven were on target. Hartlepool could only manage to place one of their ten shots on goal on target. Twenty two fouls marred the game, thirteen by Wycombe and nine by Hartlepool players.
Wycombe won today’s match comfortably with the well deserved points propelling them to tenth position in League Two and closer to the play off places with fifty five points from thirty eight games.
The attendance at Victoria Park was 3,356 (159 from Wycombe Wanderers).
