Wycombe residents asked to choose which community projects will get a share of £10,000 in funding

Residents in High Wycombe are being invited to cast a vote to decide which community projects will receive a share of £10,000 in funding.

Buckinghamshire County Council’s High Wycombe Local Area Forum (LAF) has £10,000 in its local priorities fund and is inviting residents to cast their votes to say how they want some of their council tax spent.

The four local organisations are bidding for residents’ votes are :

  • Swimming for disabled young people – Horizon Sports.
  • Healthy living for young adults and pre-teens – Khepera: Head Start to Health.
  • New skills for socially isolated men – Men in Sheds.
  • Wellbeing for people with mental health conditions – Wycombe Mind: Parks Project.

Residents wishing to place a vote in the ‘High Wycombe Decides‘ ballot can do so at the www.highwycombedecides.com website until Friday 30th June 2017 when the ballot closes. Votes can be also be cast at Wycombe Library and at selected local supermarkets.

The winning charity will get £4,000, second receives £3,000, while the charities voted into third and fourth places get £2,000 and £1,000 respectively.

County Councillor Wendy Mallen, who chairs the Local Area Forum, said: ‘This is a fantastic opportunity for residents of all ages in High Wycombe and Downley, to support projects that will benefit the community with some much-needed cash. I’d urge everyone to go online and vote for their favourite charity.
