Arson suspected following fire in flat at Lindsay Avenue, High Wycombe
Police have launched a witness appeal following an arson incident in Lindsay Avenue, High Wycombe.
On Monday 9th October 2017, between 1.00am and 7.40am a fire was started at a flat in Simmons Court, Lindsay Avenue.
At the time a man was sleeping in the flat however he was awoken by a smoke detector and managed to escape through a window. The man attended Wexham Park Hospital due to smoke inhalation but has since been discharged.
Firefighters were called at 3.57am. Two fire appliances with crews attended from High Wycombe fire station as well as an officer. A hose reel and two sets of breathing apparatus were used by the firefighters during the operation to extinguish the fire.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Kirsty Bishop, said: ‘We are appealing for information in connection with this arson, we have made a number of arrests.
We are asking anyone who may have seen anything suspicious between 1am and 7.40am on Lindsey Avenue, High Wycombe to please come forward and call 101 quoting reference 144 9/10/17.‘
Police have arrested a 43 year old man, a 45 year old man, a 26 year old man, a 50 year old man and a 27 year old man all from High Wycombe on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life. They have all been released under investigation.
