Marlow town centre Christmas lights switch on event to take place on Thu 23 Nov 2017

The Christmas light switching on ceremony in Marlow town centre will take place on Thursday 23rd November 2017.

The 2017 ‘Switch on and Shop’ event will take place on Thursday 23rd November 2017 with comedian, writer, actor and presenter Russell Brand illuminating the Christmas lights at approximately 6.30pm.

The switching on ceremony will take place from the top deck of a London bus parked outside The Chequers pub in the High Street. As well as turning on the lights in the High Street the Christmas tree on the Causeway and the many smaller trees and garlands of lights around the town will also be illuminated.

From around 6.00pm carol singers will entertain shoppers while snow machines will provide real snow. During the ‘Switch on and Shop’ event the shops in Marlow town centre will stay open later and there will be special promotions, offers and Christmas displays throughout the town.

The ‘Switch on and Shop’ event starts at 6.00pm. Marlow High Street will be closed to traffic from 5.30pm to 7.30pm for the switch on ceremony which takes place at approximately 6.30pm.

Cllr. Jocelyn Towns, Marlow Town Mayor, said: ‘We’re delighted that Russell has agreed to help launch our Christmas season in Marlow this year.

He’s an active participant in local events and we’re so happy he was able to fit Switch On and Shop into his busy schedule this year.
