Exeter City 1-1 Wycombe Wanderers
Wycombe travelled to Exeter for a League Two match on Saturday 10th February 2018.
With Wycombe flying high in the league it was a match they needed to win to keep themselves safely in the automatic promotion zone.
In just the twelfth minute Exeter took the lead with a free kick from Lloyd James which found the bottom right corner of the Wycombe goal. Exeter were by far the more dominate team in the first half.
The second half started with Wycombe in a more positive frame of mind. It wasn’t until the fifty third minute that Wycombe levelled the scores when Marcus Bean took a right footed shot from the centre of the box placing the ball into the bottom right corner of the Exeter net.
Both sides had chances during the second half however neither could make the breakthrough needed to score another goal and win the match outright.
The score remained one goal apiece and the points were shared.
During the game the match stats show that Wycombe managed 53% possession and placed four of their nine shots on goal on target. Exeter placed three of their eight shots on goal on target. There were sixteen fouls during the game, eight by each team.
Following today’s game Wycombe slip one place in League Two and now find themselves third in the table with fifty six points from thirty one games. They still occupy one of the automatic promotion places but only just with the fourth placed side, Notts County, having fifty four points.
The attendance at St. James Park was 3,956 (336 from Wycombe).
