Swindon Town visited Adams Park on Tuesday 13th February 2018 for a League Two match against Wycombe Wanderers.
With both teams flying high in the League today’s game was vital for both sides to bolster their promotion hopes.
In just the second minute Swindon took the lead. A cross from Kyle Knoyle came to Marc Richards who found the bottom right corner of the Wycombe net with a shot from the centre of the box.
Wycombe struck back a minute later through Luke O’Nien whose shot from outside the box found the bottom right corner of the Swindon goal.
Wycombe took a 2-1 lead in the tenth minute as Craig Mackail-Smith shot from very close range with the ball finding the bottom right corner of the net.
Despite both sides having further chances the score remained at 2-1 to Wycombe at half time.
The second half started with Swindon determined to bring the scores level which they duly did in the sixty first minute through a free kick from Matthew Taylor which went into the top left corner of the Wycombe goal.
It was looking like the match would end in a draw however Wycombe snatched a very late goal when, in the eighty ninth minute, Adebayo Akinfenwa headed home to give Wycombe their third goal and some well deserved points.
During the game Wycombe managed 55% possession, of their nineteen shots on goal nine were on target. Swindon placed four of their twelve shots on goal on target. Eighteen fouls marred the game, six by Wycombe and twelve by Swindon.
After today’s game Wycombe remain in third place in the table with fifty nine points from thirty two games.
The attendance at Adams Park was 4,863.
