Less than 48 hours after being unveiled a statue of David Bowie in Aylesbury’s Market Square has been vandalised.

Spray paint was used to write ‘Feed the homeless first’ on the paving stones in front of the statue, ‘RIP DB’ was sprayed on the wall beside the artwork. A section of the statue was also covered in spray paint.

The damage is thought to have happened overnight on Monday 25th March 2018.

Entitled Earthly Messenger, the bronze statue was erected to commemorate the fact that David Bowie first appeared as his Ziggy Stardust alter ego in 1972 at the Friars music venue in Aylesbury.
