Chiltern Railways to increase capacity on Oxford to London Marylebone services over the 2018 Early May Bank Holiday weekend
Over the 2018 Early May Bank Holiday weekend more than 18,000 seats will be added to Chiltern Railways services on the Oxford to London Marylebone route.
The extra capacity is being added as a result of preparation works being conducted by Network Rail in the Slough area for the new Elizabeth line over the Early May Bank Holiday weekend on Saturday 5th May 2018, Sunday 6th May 2018 and Monday 7th May 2018.
Although Chiltern Railways services are unaffected by the works the Chiltern Railways services from Oxford to London Marylebone will be the main route to London over the weekend for customers in the Oxford area. The company has therefore added a total of 18,754 extra seats on its services over the weekend to provide capacity for those expected to travel on the line.
Chiltern services are running from all stations on the Oxford line including Oxford Parkway to the north of the city which has 850 car parking spaces.
As a result of the SSE Women’s Cup Final at Wembley Stadium on Saturday 5th May 2018 most trains will be calling at Wembley Stadium Station before and after the game.
Eleni Jordan, Commercial Director for Chiltern Railways, said: ‘During improvement work, as an industry, we want to make sure everyone who wants to travel by rail can do so. This is especially important on a Bank Holiday Weekend when so many people head for a day out by train.
We have added 18,000 additional seats over the weekend on the Chiltern line to provide capacity for any additional people that wish to travel with us between Oxford and London Marylebone and we’ll have extra people at our stations to help and advise.‘
