Wycombe Wanderers 2-1 Burton Albion

Burton Albion visited Adams Park on Saturday 6th October for a League One match with Wycombe Wanderers.

In the opening twenty seven minutes of the game Wycombe made three attempts on the Burton goal but the attempts failed to turn into goals.

In the twenty ninth minute Burton’s Kyle McFadzean fouled Wycombe’s Craig Mackail-Smith in the penalty area. Joe Jacobson stepped forward to convert the penalty and give Wycombe the lead with a left footed shot which found the bottom right corner of the Burton net.

In the thirty seventh minute Wycombe took a two goal lead from a header by Adebayo Akinfenwa with the ball ending up in the bottom right corner of the goal.

At half time Wycombe were leading by two goals to nil.

When play resumed Burton came out looking to put themselves back in the match. In the forty seventh minute Marvin Sordell scored Burton’s first goal of the game with a shot from very close range into the centre of the Wycombe goal.

Although both sides had further chances there were no further goals and the game ended as a victory to Wycombe by two goal to one.

Following today’s game Wycombe are now in seventeenth place in League One with twelve points from twelve games.
