Improvements to be made at Totteridge Recreation Ground, High Wycombe

| October 30, 2018

A range of improvements and additions are to be made at Totteridge Recreation Ground in High Wycombe.

The recreation ground, which is located between Walton Drive and Totteridge Lane is set to undergo the improvements to make the popular park even more appealing to people of all ages.

Contractor Blakedown Landscapes has been appointed by Wycombe District Council to undertake the outdoor elements of the improvements.

Work started on the improvements on Monday 8th October 2018 and is expected to be completed by the end of 2018.

The design will closely follow the ‘wish list’ requested by local residents in a public consultation that concluded in early 2017. Some of the new features at the recreation ground will include:

  • A path around the perimeter of the recreation ground.
  • Creation of a grass cricket square.
  • New seating and benches.
  • Trim trail of outdoor gym equipment.
  • Ball wall.
  • Outdoor all weather table tennis tables.
  • In ground trampoline.
  • Seating hammock.

Cllr Graham Peart, Cabinet Member for Community, said: ‘Local residents told us what they wanted, and I am delighted to see the launch of this innovative project which will provide their ‘wish list’ and ensure they will be the ones who benefit the most from these improvements.

This work will increase the range of sport and activity facilities with equipment for everyone from toddlers to seniors throughout the year.

Chairman Cllr Tony Green, Chairman of Wycombe District Council, who was Chairman of High Wycombe Town Committee when it proposed the improvements, said: ‘This is a popular site with residents and my own children loved to play here when they were young. These new features will make it an even more appealing local attraction.
