Staff at Transport for Buckinghamshire have been given a festive ‘thank you’.

Mark Shaw, Buckinghamshire County Council Deputy Leader and Transport Cabinet Member together with Paul Irwin, Deputy Cabinet Member at Buckinghamshire County Council, have taken time from their busy schedules to say a special ‘thank you’ to the Transport for Buckinghamshire (TfB) road maintenance teams during a tour of all four Bucks highway depots, finishing at Handy Cross, High Wycombe on Friday 14th December 2018.

Mark and Paul were able to spent time with the teams, praising their work and commitment during 2018, through weather ranging from ice and snow in the winter to prolonged high temperatures over the summer. They both understood the difficult weather conditions that everyone has to work in, but commended the way staff always show up, 100% committed.

Mark Shaw showed his gratitude saying: ‘You are the face of TfB, the one our customers see every day. The complaints I receive have gone down significantly – you really are the unsung heroes. Paul and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for everything you do.

Of the highway improvement programme, Paul said: ‘Residents are really starting to notice the difference in the improvement of the roads. We feel that they are now back to the condition of 2005 before the investment in roads declined, and we thank you for your part in that.

The dates of the depot visits were:

  • Thursday 19th November 2018 : Gawcott depot, near Buckingham.
  • Wednesday 28th November 2018 : Griffin Lane depot, Aylesbury.
  • Tuesday 4th December 2018 : Amersham depot.
  • Friday 14th December 2018 : Handy Cross depot, High Wycombe.
