Local community groups and charities awarded £560k of grants by Wycombe District Council
Grants totalling £560k have been given to 14 local community groups and charities by Wycombe District Council.
Every year, charities and organisations based in the Wycombe district can apply to the council for a grant of more than £1,500 that will support their core business and keep the service running in the community.
In 2018 all of the applicants have been successful in receiving funding, either to the full amount requested or to a significant amount.
The fourteen organisations that will be receiving community support grants for 2019/20 and the amount they will be receiving are:
- Active in the Community, who run a district wide sports development programme on the council’s behalf : £80,000
- Chiltern Dial a Ride : £23,500
- Chiltern Rangers, who manage woodlands and local nature reserves on the council’s behalf: £125,000
- Chiltern Woodlands : £3,500
- Community Impact Bucks : £23,104
- High Wycombe Citizens Advice Bureau : £153,280
- High Wycombe Shopmobility : £6,000
- One Can Trust for the food bank : £5,000
- New Meaning Centre for Toolshed : £5,000
- Wooburn Festival : £3,000
- Wycombe Homeless Connection : £10,000
- Wycombe Rape Crisis : £5,000
- Wycombe Rent Deposit Scheme : £62,500
- Wycombe Women’s Aid : £66,000
Cllr Graham Peart, Wycombe District Council’s Cabinet Member for Community, said: ‘All of the charities and organisations that we’re awarding grants to for the 2019/20 financial year are absolutely worthy recipients.
They do fantastic work in our district’s communities, looking after our environment, looking after the elderly, looking after people’s welfare and well being and looking after people who are facing real hardship in their lives.
I’m really proud that next year, Wycombe District Council will be awarding over half a million pounds of financial support so that these charities can continue their excellent work.‘
The annual grant application process opens again in summer 2019, with applicants notified in December 2019 or early January 2020 if they have been successful, to allow organisations to plan for the financial year ahead. While this type of grant is only awarded once a year, Wycombe District Council accepts applications for smaller community grants of under £1,500 all year round.
