Wycombe Wanderers 1-2 AFC Wimbledon
On Saturday 22nd December 2018 AFC Wimbledon were the guests at Adams Park for a League One match against Wycombe Wanderers.
It promised to be an entertaining match with Wycombe trying to maintain an unbeaten home run dating to September against Wimbledon who are languishing at the bottom end of the League One table.
The match started slowly, both sides had opportunities but failed to capitalise on them.
In the twenty ninth minute the match came alive when, following a corner, Wimbledon took the lead as Kwesi Appiah struck a right footed shot from very close range with the ball finding the bottom right corner of the Wycombe goal.
At half time the score was still in favour of Wimbledon by a solitary goal.
Wycombe made a determined start to the second half making several attempts on the Wimbledon goal but, alas, their efforts came to naught.
In the ninetieth minute Wimbledon scored a second goal when, following a cross by Tyler Garratt, Jake Jervis shot from the centre of the box with the ball finding the top left corner of the Wycombe net.
It was looking very much as if the score would stay in the favour of Wimbledon by two clear goals, however Wycombe fought back in the ninety second minute as Nathan Tyson crossed to Fred Onyedinma who shot from very close range placing the ball into the centre of the Wimbledon goal.
The match ended as a victory for Wimbledon by two goals to one. Following today’s game Wycombe remain in ninth position in League One with thirty two points from twenty three games.
