Wycombe Wanderers played an away match against League One leaders, Luton Town, on Saturday 9th February 2019.
In the opening few minutes of the game both sides had chances however Luton soon became the dominant team. In the thirty third minute they took the lead with a goal from James Collins who headed home from the right side of the six yard box with the ball finding the top right corner of the Wycombe goal.
A minute before the end of the first half Adebayo Akinfenwa came close to scoring for Wycombe but his header from the centre of the box was saved as it made its way towards the top centre of the goal.
When the game resumed after the second half Wycombe had several chances but they failed to turn into goals. The match was looking as if Luton were going to win by a single goal, however in the eighty fifth minute George Moncur scored a second for Luton with a right footed shot from the centre of the box.
Three minutes later George Moncur gave Luton Town a three goal advantage from a right footed shot which found the bottom left corner of Wycombe’s goal.
Despite there being four minutes of extra time Wycombe were unable to reply and the match ended as a victory to Luton by three goals to nil.
Following today’s game Wycombe fall a place to tenth in League One with forty three points from thirty two games.
