A man has been sentenced to prison following an attempted robbery at a Tesco store in Loudwater, High Wycombe.
On Friday 1st November 2019, at Aylesbury Crown Court, a 42 year old man of Sidney Close, Uxbridge was sentenced to a total of two years imprisonment after pleading guilty, at the same hearing, to one count of attempted robbery.
On Sunday 3rd February 2019, the 42 year old man entered the Tesco supermarket in London Road, Loudwater, High Wycombe and made his way into the staff only area of the store. He then went into an office and attempted to open the safe before trying to wrestle a member of staff’s wallet away from him.
The 42 year old man then fled the store without stealing anything. He was charged with the offence on Friday 27th September 2019.
Investigating officer, Detective Sergeant Nathan Davey, based at High Wycombe police station, said: ‘[The 42 year old man] tried to steal money from the safe at the store and then from a member of staff.
He failed in both these attempts and then fled the store but was later arrested and charged with this offence.
I would like to thank the staff at Tesco for supporting this investigation, and I hope that this shows the consequences of this sort of offence.‘
