Places of worship in High Wycombe suspend services and gatherings to restrict the spread of Covid-19 Coronavirus
A number of churches and other places of worship in High Wycombe have voluntarily suspended public worship services and other gatherings until further notice to restrict the spread of Covid-19 Coronavirus.
The Church of England, Roman Catholic Church, Baptist Union, Methodist Church and various other denominations have advised the immediate suspension of all services and events that involve the gathering of people together.
The Muslim Council of Britain has also urged all mosques and Muslim community centres to follow the government advice to suspend mass gatherings.
The closures follow government advice that all religious groups should refrain from physically meeting together to restrict the person to person spread of the Covid-19 virus.
Among the churches that have suspend public worship services and other public gatherings are :
- All Saints Church in Church Square
- Oakridge Baptist Church in Oakridge Road
- St. Andrews Church in Hatters Lane
- St. Mary and St. George Church in Rutland Avenue
- Union Baptist Church in Easton Street
Alternative forms of worship including video streaming, e-Mail Bible readings, newsletters and other means of electronic communication are being used to keep members of the congregations in touch with each other.
