Christmas Tree with messages dedicated by Scannappeal supporters installed at Wycombe Hospital

A special Christmas Tree with messages, dedicated by Scannappeal supporters, to NHS staff and loved ones has been installed in the reception of Wycombe Hospital.

The tree, donated by John Lewis & Partners, High Wycombe was decorated in rainbow coloured baubles by Scannappeal staff before hanging individual heartfelt messages on the tree.

Karen Shardlow, Head of Fundraising for Scannappeal said: ‘We asked supporters what their festive wish would be for family, friends and loved ones. Many have taken the opportunity to make a special wish and share thanks to those working within our local hospitals.

The tree which is located in the main reception of the hospital, outside the Scannappeal bookshop, will remain in place throughout the festive period, Karen added ‘We have been overwhelmed by the comments from hospital visitors, but even more so by the hospital staff who are delighted to see the tree and have been very humbled by the many wishes dedicated to thanking and supporting them.‘

Dawn Stokoe, Partner and Community Liaison Coordinator at John Lewis & Partners said: ‘It has been our pleasure to support Scannappeal over several years and particularly with this request for a Christmas tree.  This is such a creative combination of fundraising and enhancing a sense of community, we hope the tree and baubles are enjoyed by all those passing through the hospital this Christmas season.‘

Scannappeal have recently launched a £125,000 Cardiac Appeal to support the cardiology department at Wycombe Hospital. At the heart of the appeal is a dedicated cardiac ultrasound system which generates detailed, real time moving images of the heart. The images will allow clinicians to assess the structure and function of the heart in patients with coronary artery disease, valve disease, heart failure, congenital heart disease and stroke.
